Rewrites

I am rewriting Guilty From Beyond The Grave. I have always heard of authors doing multiple rewrites on their books and I never understood how important it was until now. I have just done one revision and that was in June, but now Im doing a serious overhaul of the book. I like the book, dont get me wrong, but I need to tighten up the plot abit. I wont totally trash scenes and Im saving them for future use in other books. Why delete a good scene? Save it for another time, another book. Revision is a long process considering my book is 500 pages but thats Ok. I will take one scene, one page at a time. I want my work to be the best it can possibly be. Maybe Im being a little protective about it, but hey, its my book, Im allowed!
