Decisions

I've been spending time editing the book. There are alot of pages to edit and Im trying to take my time and re read what Ive written. I have to be careful that Im reading what I actually wrote instead of what I think I wrote. Sometimes, reading things backwards can help with editing, but I just can not do that with this project. I need to make sure that the story line and plot flows freely from one scene into another in addition to editing. Im the first one to read the whole completed manuscript and Im so excited to let someone else read it for feedback. Does the plot flow freely? Is it interesting? Do you like the characters? Are they properly developed? oes the plot and mystery make sense? These are just some of the questions that I will ask.

I've written numerous papers when I was in graduate school, all of them being a minimum of 30 pages. So, I am used to trying to pick things to write about and Im used to editing. Some writers can edit from the computer screen, but I can't. I need to see the words on paper and be able to take my red and green pens and cut, slash, add words, make comments about what needs to be corrected. This isnt always easy becasue when Im writing sometimes the sentence sounds so good and then later when I look at it, I'm not so sure I want to word it the way I originally did. Every writer edits differently and I'd like to take a seminar of editing to make sure that I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. I've been writing since I was nine years old and for me the process has always been the same, rewrite and edit on paper with a red pen.

Music is something that helps me work. I use it to write and edit too. Music allows that part of me which is creative to flow more freely. Once the book is more involved I'll post what music I wrote the book too. There are a few CD's that I listed too over and over again that always inspired me and remind me of certain characters. Ashton has his own music as does Sydney, Slate, and Aiden. The team as a unit has their own music too, I just cant help it. I need music to write too, it's as if the music opens up my mind to new possibilities. As a matter of fact, I know it opens up new creative ideas, I had an idea for a plot pop into my head this morning as I listened to Duran Duran on the way to work. So you see, it doesnt matter what type of music I listen too becasue all of it creates possibilites for me.
